Why do fat people abuse Handicap plates and the assistance chairs at wal – mart?

I am so sick of seeing lazy fat people use handicap stickers to park closer and the assistance chairs at wal-mart when REAL disabled people need them. They should not be allowed to do so. All they are doing is making their lazy butts fatter. Anyone else see this happening as well?
I have degenerative disk disease and severe arthritis in my spine. Walking more than short distances is difficult. Secondly I have severe asthma so trying to walk and breathe at the same time is a problem. I have a handicap designation because of these difficulties, not because I am overweight.
My husband has had back surgery. He has a handicap sticker, also and uses it for parking as close to a store as he can. So long as we can get around the store by holding onto a buggy, both of us are too proud to use mobility carts. (Incidentally, there is not an ounce of fat on my husband … if anything, he is too thin!)
You are making an assumption that all people who are overweight and use assistance chairs are lazy overeating subhumans who are not really disabled. In some instances that might be true. In others, however, it definitely is not.
Handicap designation is not easily obtained. Someone using an assistance chair may just be fat as you surmise. If they have a handicap sticker in addition, however, they are truly handicapped. Otherwise their doctor would not fill out his part of the forms for submission for fear of losing his license for fraud.
You shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Someday you may find yourself with a debiliting condition that makes it necessary for you to use the handicap designation. Would you want people making negative assumptions about you?
Well if they were able to get a real handicapped sticker then some doctor deems them disabled. So maybe they are fat because they cant walk or something. IDK….
LMAO @ this.
Some "fat" people have hard time walking for a long time. Some really do need it and some are legally disabled.
Maybe the fat person is also handicapped, ever consider that?
I guess I don’t care, if a person needs it and that is available then more power to them.
If they’re that big that they can get a sticker I’m surprised they didn’t just eat it instead.
I don’t mean anything against people who have genuine health reasons behind their weight.
Well I don’t know about that but I don’t like seeing perfectly capable people rather they are skinny or fat using them. And the sticker most likely isn’t even theres!
I have found myself cringing when I see this but as someone who has worked in the medical field I know that many of these people have become "fat" because the can no longer walk due to medical issues. Back injuries, paralysis, feet, leg injuries, diabetes, the list continues.
Just because someone is over weight doesn” t mean their lazy, they must have a medical problem to get a placard.
Also the way you refer to these people seems to show a social handicap in yourself.
Maybe you should check into why you have this prejudice against heavy people.
There are some fat people who are disabled and cannot walk for too long, so they have an excuse. But I understand where you’re coming from. I was talking with my mother about how able-bodied fat people [the ones that are fat but can walk just fine] park in the handicap spots because they’re lazy and don’t feel like walking.
I have seen lots of seemingly able bodied people doing these things. Although it is possible that some of them may have not so apparent handicaps, it seems likely that many could do without them.
When people get very heavy, they often have a hard time walking, because of the pressure that’s put on their hips, knees, ankles & even their feet. Their breath also gets taken away a lot easier, because they’re so out of shape. Due to their size, they may also have some arthritis, which makes it even more difficult for them to walk. It’s almost like being crippled. When you’re as heavy as a lot of those people are, you really do need those assistance chairs, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to even go grocery shopping, especially the older ones.
It’s very unfortunate that people allow themselves to get so big that it’s hard for them to move, but at the same time, sometimes they don’t realize just how big they actually are, until they’re already at a very advanced stage of morbid obesity. Making rude or snide comments about them, or giving them dirty looks doesn’t help them any, because their self esteem is already low. They probably just need some encouragement & motivation to help themselves get back into shape. Some kind words & a smile would be a lot more useful to those people. I do think that they should eat healthier foods & try to walk as far as they can everyday, several times a day & slowly start getting themselves into shape, but everyone needs a little motivation!
On the same note, I also think it’s sad that people just don’t realize how hard it is on heavy folks & they call them lazy & stuff. While it may be true to some, it may not be true to others. Some people have medical problems, thyroid conditions, bone density issues, arthritis in the hips/knees/back, they may have had some kind of back surgery that makes it hard & painful for them to walk, or some pinched nerves or blown disks, then add 50+ pounds of strain to those injuries & they just can’t walk or move like they once did. You never know what’s wrong with people. It may be more than simply being "fat & lazy". That’s why you should just be nice to people & if you ever get the chance to know one of them, encourage them & motivate them to do something for themselves.
