my dog gets on the chair almost immediately after my girlfriend gets out of it and goes into another room. and it is only in her chair, none of the other furniture in the front room. we both have tried correcting him but its not working. he is a very smart dog and i know he knows better. he also likes to get on our bed which he knows is wrong, because he has never been aloud to do so.

Dog repellent spray. You don’t need to train your dog, you just spray it on the furniture, and your dog won’t go on it. It isn’t harmful to the dog, it’s just a bad scent. And humans can’t smell it.
If you want to train your dog, it isn’t that hard. When he gets on the furniture, just say bad dog. Then force him off. If he gets back on, repeat. When you force him off and he doesn’t try to get back on, give him a treat. It should take 1 week MAX
Just keep correcting him every time he does it and make sure to reward him with lots and lots of praise when he gets down. He should get it eventually. Also, you can try playing with him on the floor a lot and that may make the floor seem more attractive to him.
they have a spray the is called doggie off or something like that
sounds like your dog is jelouse of your girlfriend…you have to decide a punishment and stick to it. maybe if he jumps up on the bed or couch you need to put him in another room alone for a bit if just yelling doesnt work. dogs know when they are being punished so that may work. for cats a good way to train them not to go on furniture is by spraying them with water bc most cats hate that…your dog probably could care less but it might startle him..could work
I layed a sheet of plastic on my bed to prevent my aussie from being tempted to continue sleeping up there. I also provided her with a soft bed and blanket.
Worked for me…
I used this stuff called bitter apple it worked well when i used it. You can get it at a pet store.
We had a dog that we trained to stay off of the furniture and we never saw it on the furniture. One day when we had the dog for a few years, we came home after being out. Guess what the dog was not on any of the furniture it met us at the door tail wagging etc. When I sat down on the couch it was nice and warm. We found out that as long as we were home …good dog …never on the furniture. As soon as we went out dog gets on the couch or chair. They are just like teenagers you can’t let them out of your sight and expect them to obey the rules.
Well, first off your dog needs to know who is the pack leader. The first command any dog learns, as with a human child is "NO!" The dog will learn that NO means he is exhibiting bad behavior. When
he jumps up in the chair, just say authoritatively, "NO!" and remove him! The same with him climbing on the bed. If he were a feral canine such as a Fox, Wolf or Coyote, the mother would growl at him or nip for exhibiting bad behavior. In our case, we say NO! Every time he jumps on the chair or in the
bed, just say "NO!" and remove him. Dogs are smart and it won’t take him long to learn that NO means he is acting badly. Dogs love to please their owners, but he doesn’t know that he is doing
something bad until YOU correct him. Do what I said and he’ll stop. I hope that I have been of some help to you and your dog.
