We recieved very nice dining chairs, but the thin leather is damaged. How can I restore?

We recieved these chairs and the wood is in good condition but the light tan leather sheats are damaged. Some scratches, marker stains, visible ware(dark spots and the grain of the leather is visible), and paint stains. None of the stains will come off more than a little bit.
What can I do? Shoe polish?

If the grain of the leather is visible on the leather then it sounds as though you have an aniline style (one that absorbs moisture). Stains such as marker stains and paint stains and dark spots will be impossible to get out of a leather like this, but it may be worth trying a leather cleaner (Lazy Leather) to see what reuslts you can get.
The leather has not been looked after correctly and it may be a better option to replace the seat panels with some new leather or fabric.
Hope this helps
It is simple to reupholster most dining room chairs. If you flip the chair over you’ll notice that the seats are just screwed in. Once you get the seat off you’ll see that the uphostery is simply stapled down. Remove the staples and the seat cover comes right off. Buy some fabric or leather (JoAnns is a good place for it) and use the old cover as a template to cut the new stuff. You may want to add some new batting to it for cushion. Now just pull the fabric tight and staple it back down. Screw the seat back down to the chair and your done. It is really easy. I did 6 chairs in about an hour. Beleive me anyone can do it
