I have all porcelain ceramic tiles throughout the house. Can they get scratched with chairs / beds and other furnitures sitting directly on top of the porcealin ceramic tiles? If we move / slide chairs will it harm the tile? I believe these tiles are rated either 4 or 5 in the toughness scale.
Why shouldn’t we walk on it with shoes?

porcelain does scratch. I don’t know that anything that says it’s toughness will keep it from scratching altogether. There are things you can buy to put on the bottom of your furniture, dressers, tables, etc. that is like soft rug on the bottom, slides easily, and doesn’t scratch when you move things. I suspect you and your visitors will be wearing socks to walk on this flooring so keep a mat at the door for shoes..
Yes, it can scratch. Try using those little rubber backed felt pads under the surfaces that touch the floor. They also make it easier to move the furniture around.
You can also use rubber backed throw rugs or runners to protect your tile from being scratched by grit and dirt brought in on shoes.
Yes if the legs have metal pads.
(add plasic or felt pads)
Also if sandy dust gets under the legs and the item is moved.
Repeated rubbing like that ,will scratch or leave dull marks on the glaze of the tile,so cleaning the floors is essential.
Chairs may be the worst offenders simply because they’re moved more often.
A "no outside shoes in the house" policy 🙂 will reduce tracked in sand or dirt.
The problem will be with the grout joints, if they are very deep you will ruin your furniture. The grout will also chip if a chair or other types of furn are pushed across it.
In general tile is the same color all the way through, so scratches don’t show.
