Storage units can be pricey and do not fall for Public Storage’s first month for only one dollar, once you go into there office with your things to be stored they add fees and you pay a lot more then one dollar. Then more monthly. Do not deal with public storage due how high there fees are, and if the rent is not paid they keep your things and sell them.I would not use U-haul now called U-junk they give you broken down truck to move your stuff. Use budget trucks and reserve the rental truck online, you get a discount for reserving online. You could do a search on line for storage units in your area. Have you thought about renting someones garage for a year, this can be very affordable and I am sure there are people who could use the extra money. Post an ad on Craigslist.com for wanting a garage to rent for a year and see if they will give you a discount if you sign a one year lease. Happy Holidays.
a single family about 300 to 400 in california a month. make sure you use mattes covers and drain you washer and defrost your fridge. use bags to cover your sofa and any pillows or anything that is made of foam. i have seen people not do this and rats have be brought to there new home or apartment washers get mold and not work. do not lay your fridge on it side or back. if you are just yourself 50 to 100 you can also purchase insurance for when it is in the compound. I would sell the bed matters and sofa big risk of infestation
It really depends on who you’re storing them with, but a 5×10′ usually runs $60 a month or so and a 10×10′ around $80. If you need a climate controlled space the rates will run higher. A 5×10 should be able to accommodate a living room and one bedroom.
Before deciding for one company or another, make sure they provide the conditions necessary to keep your furniture intact, in good shape; that is air, no humidity, protection against fires etc etc. Also, the price should vary between $20-$30, depending on your location.
The cost can vary… usually $50-$150 per month. However, make sure that the place is not moldy, has climate control and doesn’t have water pipes running above.
I’ve ran into some bad situations when any of these were not checked off.

I live in a nice apartment in VA. They charge $100 for garage/storage area in the complex.
