How do you spot treat furniture without leaving a water mark?

In the past, when I clean an area on my chair/couch, it dries and leaves a water outline or mark.
Today, a cup of root beer was spilled on the side of my upholstered chair. What’s the best way to clean it and remove the stain without leaving a water mark?
Thanks.
I would use upholstery cleaner and always use a clean white rag, you dab and twist, using a clean part of the towel each time. Have another clean white dry cloth to dab and twist, removing the stain and excess water. Good Luck.
i use oxy clean and that works pretty nice and i even spray it right on the furniture. works great in the car too!!
