50th birthday party elegant?

giving my mom a 50th birthday party i have an idea of what i want the place to look like( my mothers house) kind of want an elegant night club look with the dime lights and bar stool and tables just wanted some ideas on the decor of the home its small condo event takes place in the living room and kitchen so any ideas let me know colors are going to be black and silver so the ppl are going to where those colors

look for your decorations at ikea – they have really cool modern stuff on the cheap. you could buy all the stuff you need and then sell it on craigslist. ask all your guests to dress up in black & silver – that would look great in the pictures!
Banners are a great eye opener also. I know many party places have those. Decorate the house with items of interest to her and her family. Scrapbooks. Photo albums. The evening is all about her, so I would center around those themes. Good luck.
