Wrought Iron Bar Stools
Used since the 16th century, wrought iron is a timeless decorating material for indoors or outdoors, and wrought iron bar stools are just as timeless and versatile. The first recorded incidence of wrought iron being used in construction was during the building of Notre Dame de Paris. However, for many centuries before that, iron was used in battle, and was referred to in Greek and Roman mythology with the stories of Vulcan and Hephaestus. Blacksmiths were once seen as almost magical, because of their ability to change the composition of wrought iron using fire and water.
Wrought iron bar stools are made in every shape and style imaginable: swiveling, backless, with or without arms, as 24-inch kitchen counter bar stools and 30-inch standard bar stools. They can be used to customize the look of your standard bar or kitchen bar, are relatively inexpensive, and are very sturdy and solid. Prices for wrought iron bar stools range from just over $100 to around $550 each.
Wrought iron allows for great variations in style, even in a single category of furniture like bar stools. It can be made with decorative flourishes and curlicues for an old fashioned look, or it can be formed into simple elegant lines that are right at home with modern furniture. Hillsdale bar stools are often made with wrought iron, and they are built for comfort, durability, and elegance.
Buying bar stools can be a pleasant experience if you do a little research before you shop. Many online retailers of bar stools offer free shipping and coupons for discounts. You also need to calculate what height your bar stools should be. Standard bar stools are 30 inches tall and work well with bars that are 42 inches tall. Generally, 10 to 12 inches between the seat of a bar stool and the bar is a good rule of thumb.
You will want to calculate how many wrought iron bar stools you need. One quick way is to measure the length of your bar in inches, and divide by 28. If you are buying wrought iron bar stools with arms, or that swivel, allow a little more room between them. Ideally, you should have 25 to 28 inches spanning the distance from the center of one bar stool to the next.
If you’re in the market for outdoor bar stools, wrought iron is a great choice. Wrought iron bar stools come in numerous frame styles, finishes, and upholstery options and can go with any patio or outdoor bar design. Often wrought iron outdoor bar stools come with a 10 to 15 year warranty on the frame and a 3 to 5 year warranty on the powder coated finish. Many retailers will guarantee that your wrought iron outdoor bar stools won’t peel. Peeling of wrought iron furniture is much less of a problem than it was 30 years ago. Fortunately, modern wrought iron finishing compounds make the design better suited than ever for outdoor bar stools.
There is no question about it. Wrought iron bar stools are one of the most wide ranging styles available. This material is used for everything from water pipes to railway couplings today, and can also be used to make intricately decorative ironwork in fences and handrails.
Because of wrought iron’s unique properties of being malleable, sturdy, and non-brittle, bar stools from wrought iron can be made in just about any design imaginable. And with better coatings available now, wrought iron is even more suited to an outdoor environment. All this, and wrought iron bar stools are reasonably priced. It would be hard to go wrong if you choose wrought iron as your bar stool material.
