When did you stop using the highchair for your child?
Johnny is 20 months old. I have a high chair and a booster seat. I use the high chair in the kitchen and the booster seat for when we have lazy dinners at our house and end up eating in the living room in front of the tv. (lol).
I’m getting ready to have a yard sale and I’m debating on whether or not I should put the high chair in the sale.
** The only problem I have is that we do not eat dinner at a ‘table’. We either eat in the living room (like I stated above) or in the kitchen – at the bar on bar stools. I guess I could attach his booster seat to one of the bar stools and still get rid of the high chair…
I don’t know — what would you do? Keep the high chair or sell it?
GAHHHHH!!!!
No, no, no noooooo more kids! (LOL) At least not any planned at the moment!!!!!
Yep – the barstool has a back, it’s pretty much just a really tall chair, lol.
And the booster has straps that you can secure around the bottom of the barstool and around the back of the barstool. I’ve had him up on that before, and it secured really well, it wouldn’t even wiggle.

Eli has been in a booster for about 3 months now, he absolutely loves it. Although with your situation, I would make sure you can secure the booster on the barstool before getting rid of it! That would make me a little nervous, having a booster on a barstool with no back (if there is a back, I don’t see any problem at all!)
Oh yeah, sell that thing then! I was *sooooooo* happy to put that big highchair up in the attic!
I sold our high chair when the baby was about 16 months old. He had stopped using it and started using his booster seat at the table. Since you eat dinner in your kitchen it sounds like it would be easier for you to keep the high chair.
My daughter stopped using her highchair around 2ish, I think. I remember using it during her second birthday party, but I can’t remember a time after that. We are extremely laid back about dinner around here, so she usually eats dinner on the couch or at her little table in the living room…LOL.
Do you plan on having more kids? If so, would you want to use it for them? My highchair has been shoved in the corner of the living for months now, but since I am having another baby it will be used again. Plus, I’m a pack rat, so try to pry it out of my hands…haha.
I’d sell it. Once my toddler started to walk he couldn’t stand to be in the high chair anymore – he can’t get in and out when he wants to, he’s stuck there until i get him out. so we got rid of it.
I would keep him in the high chair. 20 months is not too old for that. The booster on the bar stool thing doesn’t sound quite safe to me. My oldest was in the high chair until he was 3 becasue we have a pub table with high stools. We actually had two high chairs for quite some time. When the boys were 3 and 2, I bought child sized table and chairs and put it next to our table for the kids, so they still don’t sit at the big table.
I sold the highchair last month, when little guy was 11 months old. I put him in a booster, and he loves it. Sometimes, if it’s only myself and the little ones for lunch, I pull them over to the island to eat, but other than that, with two in boosters, it sort of forces us to eat at the table (my children are trying to domesticate me, but it’s taking a long, long time). It’s nice to not have the highchair sitting in the kitchen anymore.
Until he stoped being messey and learned how to hold the spoon and fork right
My daughter was a roamer if she wasn’t in her high chair. She started wandering around 2 years old……so I’d just put her in her high chair and she’d eat wonderfully. I kept her in her high chair until she was almost 3.
I would sell the high chair. Both of my kids were in a booster chair at around 10 months old. They are 18 months and 3 years old now. I did it because 2 high chairs would take up too much room in our tiny house!!! The boosters we have attach to the kitchen chair and the kids eat right at the table with us.
Honestly, we haven’t even been using the boosters at all this last week or so. We have a toddler table and chairs next to the big table, and the kids have been eating there. They have been able to sit in a regular chair with out falling. So we may be getting rid of the boosters soon.
We are about to stop any day now… just as soon as I can remember to buy a booster seat. Connor hates the high chair and wants to be a "big boy".
We never used a highchair – just have a booster that has a tray. I’ve both had her eat at the table without the tray and used a tray since she started solids at 6.5 months.
16 moths or so..then went to a booster seat.
