What is an appropriate tip for having a sofa and a chair delivered and to have a sofa taken out of your home?
I am having a sofa and a chair delivered to my home from a large furniture chain. I have also paid a fee to have my old sofa removed. What is an appropriate tip per person for this job? I live in a small city in IN and the distance from the driveway to the front door of my home is about 30 feet. I am assuming they will be professional about the job and not damage my home or belongings.

I wouldn’t tip them anything.. a delivery person is paid to deliver. Do you tip someone in a retail store every time they help you? To me, this is the same thing. I don’t understand tipping for everything and anything under the sun. The only services I tip for are SERVICE type services. This is a sofa and a chair you purchased, not a service you purchased.
A tip for your hair stylist, a manicurist, a housecleaner, a car washer, a waiter, those are tipping service.. just my opinion. Best Wishes!
20 bucks total.
About 10 bucks each!
$10 per person.
$200 see you next week , a cup of coffee and chocolate eclairs would not go amiss either,
2 people? $5 each. I think you’re being nice.
ASSUMING, the delivery people (guys) ARE ON TIME !, DON’T damage anything, are COURTEOUS, CLEAN,and CAREFUL, then perhaps a $6 or $7 buck tip (per person) is enough, but NOT MANDATORY ! These guys work by the hour, (or delivery) and are paid well. (otherwise, they would’nt do it.) $6 or $7 bucks will buy them a lunch at a burger joint. (Your NOT expected to feed them a three course meal) REMEMBER, the delivery fee was either paid upfront (by you) OR it was factored into the cost of the item. SO, you owe nothing more for the item. A tip is ONLY a GRATUITY. (Also, be VERY CAREFUL as to being TOO generous. It could lead to problems later.)
$10 ea. is more than sufficient for a 5 minute job (if that)….
$5 each.
