Ladies, when decorating your babies nursery what furniture did you buy? How did you decorate it?
Unfortunately, me and my hubby only have 1 room, so we have already left half of it empty(for the babies furniture) and I’m looking online to see what type of crib to get, dressers, changing table, rocking chair and so on. What kind of furniture did you buy for your baby? What do you recommend that I don’t buy? Ideas?

–A crib– maybe one that goes from crib to toddler bed, to twin bed.
–Since your space is tight, you can get one of those dressers that have the changing space on top.
–A rocking chair would be wonderful if you have the space.
Later, a high chair that converts to a toddler chair.
Look for stuff that can be used in more than one way (like the dresser/changing table) or furniture that can grow with your baby through toddlerhood.
Don’t go with anything gimmicky or that you will only need for a short time.
You need a crib, changing table and a glider rocker. I used a Noah’s Ark theme.
I went with a vintage theme for my daughter’s room and decorated with used or hand me down furniture. I bought an old painted dresser at an antique store for like $100, a glider that I painted white at a consignment furniture store, and the rest came from relatives (minus the crib). I got the bedframe from my grandparents and the mattress set from my in laws. Unfortunately, the stuff that came from my grandparents was the result of a death in the family, so that was sort of bittersweet.
I never bought a changing table. We have a twin bed set up in her room that I change her on, and when our next one is born, if it’s a girl they will share a room and eventually my daughter will move to the bigger bed.
I have found a lot of deals used through garage sales, flea markets, and other types of places like that. As long as you can be certain the paint isn’t lead (which you can test for, plus it’s highly unlikely if it’s been repainted) you can get a lot of nice things that way that will last a long time and not cost a lot.
I got everything given to me from a family friend who had a little girl. But all I have for furniture in her nursery in a dresser a convertible crib (crib, toddler bed, daybed, and a double bed) and a change table, which is mostly used for extra storage. One thing I wish I had in it tho is a rocking chair.
I didn’t spend a lot of money on decorating. I bought a crib, changing table and rocker/glider, all in light colored wood. The shelves on the changing table held all her clothes, so we didn’t need a dresser. (Once we got rid of the changing table when she was potty trained, we moved a spare dresser into the room.)
We painted the walls in blue, with yellow trim (I didn’t’ know the sex in advance, so went with something neutral.) I’d planned to buy curtains in a more gender-specific color/pattern after baby arrived, but never got around to it, so just white mini-blinds on the window. Decorations were mostly cross-stitch baby samplers done by various friends … and a stunning ‘cut paper’ picture given to us as a baby gift by another friend. She was a baby back before they recommended not using quilts in the crib, so we also had several pretty quilts made by grandparents and aunts as baby gifts. Sheets were various cute prints.
target and kmart have a crib thats a crib/changing table on the end, its very very very nice and has a rollout that goes under crib, its about 200 and something. the changing table has a drawer that will fit a dirty clothes basket in it,and its for small areas
crib goes to a day bed/toddler bed also and changing table than can be a dresser/end table thing
i’d buy the rocking chair for one end w/ a end table and lamp and a crib/changing table on other end againest wall, thats about it!! not much more is needed
