is this too much for board??
It has a clubhouse with a plasma tv, a wii, a full kitchen and a fire place. The barn is amazing! The stalls have automatic waters and the walls are spotless. The watching area for the arena has leather chairs, a sofa, and a table and it has a bunch of bar stools lined up in front of a huge opening on the rail. and the lockers are huge and they are cherry wood and there are automatic locks . there is matting EVERYWHERE the horses could possibly walk. It is perfect…except it is 20 minutes away and its 850 a month….thats 1200 more a year then where were at…..
they turn your horse out for 4 hours a day, they blanket, and do supps at no additional charge
BTW IM 12

Those little amenities are nice, but how are the people? Were the other boarders friendly? How did the pastures look? Does $850 a month mean they will hold your horse for the vet, farrier, etc and blanket them when needed for no additional charge? If the pastures aren’t great and the people are not friendly, what good is everything else? I, personally, would not spend that much on board. But if you love it and have the money then go for it.
EDIT: I would NEVER pay that amount to have my horse only turned out for 4 hours a day! Horses are meant to be out in the pasture, not in their stalls getting bored and finding vices such as cribbing.
Like I said, it may be a nice barn, but that’s crazy expensive. If I paid $850 a month, I wouldn’t be able to pay for anything. I don’t think I’d be able to board there. That’s just too much for me, but that’s my opinion.
That is quite expensive. I board at a great stable for $475 a month. Maybe you should just stay at where you board now? It’s really your choice.
WHOLLY CRAP YEA THATS TOO MUCH!!!! to bored my horse it is only 70 a month!!!!!!
yes. why do you need a wii,t.v,kicthen you came there to pat attenion to your horse.
Thats pretty much the norm around here.. well low end.. it ranges from about 800-1300 a month depending on what the barn offers.. it depends on where you live too..
I would say it is fine, it sounds like a crazy nice barn.
That sounds like a good price…but do you need it? I mean, you go there to take care of your horse & ride. Your not going to drive to the barn to make dinner, play wii, start a fire, or watch people ride. No, so why do you need it? I would stay at the other barn, IMO.
Our barn is just like that. Over an hour away. Cheaper than yours.
If you can afford it, then why do you care?
Just make sure the people are nice. More than often, people at those kind of places are COMPLETE snobs.
If you can afford it and your parents can handle paying for it without giving up an arm and a leg, then go! And you’re only twenty minutes away!!! That’s great!!! I have to drive 35-40 minutes to get to the barn I board at, and that is with no traffic!! Consider yourself lucky that you have that barn so close. But it would be way too much for me! I pay $600 now, and the barn that I’m at is alot like that, so don’t consider yourself being gibbed out of money, the barn could be so close to a big city that they have to charge that price simply because of the location. There’s actually a few barns in my area that cost more but are crappy.
So if you’re family can afford it, then go!! It sounds like a wonderful place!!!
Good luck!!
that is way too much, by the way you go there to ride not play wii
that barn sounds amazing.i live in ny and for 850 u get a little bit below average looking barn.i think you should go for it.for all those nice things i dont see why not.1200 more a year is not that bad.enjoy it
if you are willing to pay that much its worth it
for what it offers that would be cheap in my area! Having said that…it is a whole heckofalot more that the 200 a month that I pay!
Do you really NEED all the amenities.
I prefer that my horse be turned out at least 12+ hrs a day. I think having horses in a stall for more than 8-12 hrs at a time is unfair.
Alot of it depends on area. It might be decent in one area, but a completely ridiculous amount somewhere else. It depends on what the market there is like.
However, as many other have stated. They are offering many additions which wont aid your horse at all, and in fact, may be more for the employee’s entertainment and comfort than anyone else’s.
I wouldnt pay the extra, for things that wouldnt aid my horse. But its not my choice, its yours (or your family’s). You guys decide if its worth the extra money.
