Is there a way to turn a “Pass through” into a table without actually doing any construction?
I live in an apartment so I can’t really change anything permanently but I would like to somehow turn my pass through (thanks to you all I now know what it’s called) into a table and put some bar stools on both sides. Maybe something that can be placed on it and taken off of it very easily. I suppose I could have something made but I’m thinking maybe there are things out there ready-made. Obviously I’m thinking more than just a plank with a table cloth.

Look for a small laminate or wood table top that can span the opening and then attach braces to the underside with screws – you can then fasten them into the walls below the pass through or use some angle brackets affixed to the underside of the table to give you some support instead – but not as much as you will probably want, so I would screw it in but fill the holes before you leave.
Not knowing where you live makes this a trifle difficult; however, not impossible.
Here in Los Angeles there are dozens of demolition/recycling companies that are just dying to do business with you.
How would you like to own a 10 pound solid brass door knocker?
What about a six foot by three foot by 3" solid oak door which has been custom cut into your own H pattern and using the left-over cutting scrap to make four identical truss braces and perfect patches for the pre-existing door hardware.
This will cost you a couple of bucks, but it will be completely portable and will not damage your landlord’s walls (painters’ putty will cover the 8 mounting screw holes).
