ok, no. not even traditional muay thai schools teach this any more, they just use kicking bags when it becomes easy you get heavier harder bags.
i will explain why you don’t want to do this.
when your shin bone breaks (eg in a fight) it cracks/fractures.
what happens when you kick solid objects like trees is the shin bone will become harder but what happens is when it breaks (for whatever reason) is shatters into many little splinters. this is why they don’t train like that anymore.
nah man its bad. there too… thin?
kick tress, they are sturdy, and have a TINY bit of sponge effect
its wat all my martial arts friends do
trees man… treesss
No you will damage your shins some day. It is never good to keep doing something until it hurts. Pain is usually a sign that means your body can’t take it anymore.
a better way to harden your shins are:
Rolling exercise:
Take a bottle in both hands and roll it slowly up and down the shin bone.
Keep in mind that you have to roll the bottle slightly on the inside of the shin.
There is a muscle ( tibialis ) on the outside.
Knocking exercise:
Knock the bottle to the shinbone, but not very hard.
The knocking should not hurt or leave bruises.
Don’t knock harder than you would knock a door and please… don’t break the bottle on the shin.
Roll 40 times, knock 20 times. ( breath the same speed you roll – knocks are fast and light )
Repeat about 5 times – 4 times per week.
Similar exercises can be applied on the bottom of the forearm.
Good Luck!
Taylor has a good direction for you.. the rolling excessive, and the knocking is good, either a bottle or an actually rolling pin. Also a roll of pencils can be used for the knocking or "tapping" it helps deaden the nerve endings so you are not sensitive to strikes to the shins.
Very bad idea. If you want to get injured quickly or develop serious problems, including arthritis in later life, then keep going. The best thing for you is to forget the whole idea. What you are not seeing is that it is not how hard your hands, feet, shins, …etc. are. It is how well you can use your skills. Buying a Hammer does not make you a carpenter. A good carpenter can do more with a cheap hammer than an unskilled person can do with an expensive one. The same applies here. Develop your skills and forget about this rubbish.
The rolling pin or bottle thing is terrible. It deadens the nerves in the leg too quickly and then you can’t tell when you are injuring yourself. Your nerves are dead before your shins are strengthened.
Just kick the heavy bag, it will do both and at the same time you will get a better kick, a better kick will have you hit harder and your bones will get harder in return.
