Sprinkle the couch with pepper. My dog really doesn't like the taste of really peppery foods, and I think it doesn't like the smell either. I know this seems kind of gross but after a while the dog will avoid the smell and stop going on the furniture and then you can stop putting pepper on it.

you have to train it or
get some to train her

give her treat when she does something right.

she'll learn

cage her up when you don't want her out on the coach

He can be retrained not to go on your furniture but you aren't going to be successful if he has run of the house when home alone. Until he has been retrained, you cannot trust him to stay off the furniture in your absence.

Take him to obedience classes or hire a trainer to teach the dog 'off', 'down' and 'stay'. Be consistant in telling him off. Keep a leash on him when you are home and if he attempts to get on the furniture, gently guide him off of it and praise him.

Keep the dog outside! It's your house you make the rules. You have to show you are the boss and what is not acceptable.

I totally agree with chloe. Instead of putting it in a cage when you're not around let it outside where it can play in the yard. Locking one up is so sad....they're not meant to be caged.

No matter what they call it a crate IS a cage.

I would say just keep letting the dog know it is not ok, you are going to have to be patient and keep reiterating that this is not acceptable.

Mouse traps covered in newspaper when you are not home. They will go off when he gets on the couch and startle him but shouldn't hurt him if they are under the paper. Squirt bottle full of water when you are home. Spray him every time he jumps up. If that doesn't work keep dragging him off the couch and praising him for being off the couch. If he's a smart dog....you can teach him new tricks.
