how do you get brown stains out of white linoleum?

My linoleum has light brown stains from the rubber bottoms of my bar stools – I have since covered the bottoms with white felt but I am stuck with these ugly stains and have tried every product I can think of. Any suggestions?

I d have to guess you have a vinyl and not a true linoleum floor.
Sorry but you will not get this type of stain out. This is a chemical reaction between the rubber and the vinyl, which are both petroleum based products. sorry.. GL
Try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If that doesn’t work, try vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or baking soda. You can make a paste with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and scrub the heck out of it!
Let me know if any of this helps. I have lots more ideas
I make a thick paste with water and Oxyclean powder and let it sit on the white linoleum tiles by my front door (a lot of outside mess accumulates there). Sometimes it works after a few minutes, sometimes longer; then just wipe it up with a paper towel. And I agree with melynda, the magic erasers work great, too.
There is no chemical cleaner that can dissolve rubber residue without also dissolving the linoleum that it’s stuck to (acetone would easily get it off, but would risk causing damage and dulling the surface). Linoleum is made from hardened linseed oil, and is basically just a sheet of flexible paint. Your best bet is to physically buff the scuff marks out. Try using polishing compound, available in any auto parts store, and rub the affected areas using your fingers. It’s a mild abrasive that will remove the scuff marks, but gentle enough not to damage the surface as long as you don’t rub too hard.
