How do I shorten a barstool to make it short enough for a standard 29″ high table?
I have a set of four bar stools that I do not currently use. I have just purchased a new table that the barstools would match up with. Instead of spending 0 to get a few nice chairs, I wanted to shorten the height of my barstools so I can use them as chairs for the new table. Is there a simple step by step instruction on how to do this? Since there will be four cuts (1 to each leg) I want to make sure I am able to do this as simply as possible so I don’t have to keep cutting over and over again to get the legs to match up. Thanks in advance for your help!

One way you could do it to insure you get all the legs the proper height and correct angle would be to take a carpenters level and level the stool, once the stool is level take a hose clamp and tighten it onto one of the legs, then rest one end of the level on the hose clamp and lay it across to the next leg, make a mark and attach another hose clamp to that leg. Keep doing the same thing until all legs are marked and they have hose clamps on them. Once you have hose clamps secured on each leg double check to make sure they are all level. Now take a hand saw and very carefully rest the saw on the hose clamp and use it as a guide to cut through the leg. Cut very slowly and carefully taking nice easy cuts. Once you have them all cut, remove the hose clamps and the legs should all be the exact same height and the same exact angle. Hope this helps…Good luck!!!
Use a sander and shorten the bottoms of the stools.
Measure twice, cut once… This should be pretty easy.
