You're ignoring quite a few things in there. Like tax breaks, loopholes, unfair deductions, and so forth. I have a friend that makes about 7 times more than me. I roughly take in 25,000 a year. He pays the same as I do in taxes (less 2 years ago) because he can afford to have an CPA review his records all year, while I can afford to go to H&R block in april. He makes more money, but because he does, he can afford to not pay as much in taxes. That's how our tax system works in reality.
