Bloody Mucus in stool?
My 2½ year old daughter has always had a problem with bowel movements, most of the time having hard pellet like stools and being constipated. The doctors are not sure why, but by being on soy milk it is a little better but not completely. Today she has had 4 bm’s so far, the first being very dark almost black, she then said her stomach hurts and the next two were a normal consistency but green, almost as green as the ask/answer/discover bar at the top of the screen! The last one was very soft but not diahrrea and had a dark green mucus. When I was cleaning her up (she is normally potty trained and will go on the toilet but today she dosen’t want to at all and went in her pants though it isn’t sudden) there was bloody mucus in it also. She has a dr’s appointment next week and I am going to ask her about this, but is this something I should call and make the appointment sooner or is my daughter just having a stomach virus type thing?

Any time that stool is dark colored, it could indicate bleeding somewhere in the stomach or the start of the intestines. Needless to say, anytime a person is bleeding internally, it is potentially very serious. The last BM probably had some bloody mucas due to the fact that she was going so often. If she has any more black stool, fever, or complains of severe stomach pain, take her to the ER. With the abdomen, it’s always better to be safe.
